Back when Examiner was a thing, I would open each year with an article that laid out a sort of itinerary for what I was planning on covering in the next 12 months. I did this more with the Stephen King column as it was more structured, but now that everything has consolidated here, it gives me a chance to talk about the whole kit and kaboodle.
Stephen King
It seems like the King stuff has been on the back burner for some time. I've been reading Brent Weeks' "Night Angel" books, so I haven't really made much progress in King's bibliography. With that series wrapping up soon, I plan to dive into "Desperation", then "End of Watch, and Joe Hill's "The Fireman". If I can knock off "The Regulators" and "Bag of Bones", that would be really good too. I'd kind of like to get caught up on King's library as soon as possible. Considering several of those are door stoppers, it could be a while, but I do plan on working towards getting caught up; especially considering some of this is stuff that should have been covered last year.
On the film front, the "Cell" movie still needs to be reviewed. On top of that, the first of the "Dark Tower" movies is set to hit theaters this year, as well as the new adaptation of "It". Oh, there's also "Gerald's Game" and possibly another "Children of the Corn" movie, so there should be some interesting movie material.
As to the comics, well, we'll see.
Anime
I know I'm an episode behind on "Dragonball Super" due to the holidays, but I plan on getting caught up on that this week. It should come as no surprise that I plan on continuing to cover that as long as it airs throughout the year.
Good news, though, is that "Attack on Titan" is finally going to be given greater priority. With the second season hitting Netflix in April, I NEED to be caught up by that point so that I can provide quasi-timely reviews of the new season when it hits Netflix.
There will likely be another couple of series added to the roster, though I don't know which ones they'll be yet. Come 2018, I might be able to offer a stronger blueprint, but for now, that's the best I can do on that front. These are more spur of the moment, which is why I never did docket articles for this branch on Examiner.
General
I still have two Luke Cage episodes that need to be covered. Much like "Dragonball Super", I plan to be caught up on that this week.
In addition, "Iron Fist" hits Netflix in March (on my birthday to be exact) and then the big kahuna arrives as the Defenders comes later on in the year. I've been hyped for that for some time. I think I'm really going to enjoy that. Superhero team ups are my jam.
Speaking of, "Legends of Tomorrow" also resumes in a couple of weeks so those episodes will be covered when they air, and of course, I'll discuss the third season when we get to that point.
For an annual layout, this may seem light, but I am planning on having a new post up every day for the entirety of 2017. It's daunting, sure, but at the same time, it also limits me to 365 posts (well, 364 technically, as this will be today's) so I don't want to overbook. Considering seasons of shows run 12 to 25 episodes, it eats up a lot really quickly. Heck, I already have the first week of the year taken care of, and that's just backlog. Reviewstream reviews will also be used to help fill in the gaps, so there should be some decent variety. Much like the anime stuff, this isn't planned out and just depends on what I see or decide to write about. I already have two reviews that have been published, but not posted to this site yet, so those will give me a small buffer as well.
I've got some other stuff planned, but I want to keep that on the down low for now.
If you'd like to see more frequent updates, I also do monthly(ish) patron-exclusive posts over on the Patreon that give a more focused layout for what's coming in the near future as well as a better sense of how things are coming along.
