Pre-release material
Under the Dome to be adapted by HBO (granted, it's on CBS, so this article is a tad moot, but for completionist's sake, here it is)

A reader sent me an email the other day with a link to an article that elaborates on the recent announcement made by King himself that his newest novel, Under the Dome, was going to be turned into a series on HBO.
I alluded to it in a previous article, but this sort of news really does deserve it's own piece. Surprisingly, there isn't much in the way of news on it. Neither Aintitcool nor Chud has anything. Were it not for the linked article I was sent, all I'd have to go on is the one sentence King says about it.
One thing I have to mention is how fast this decision was made. The book just came out this week and they've already decided to adapt it. That's pretty quick.
It's unclear whether this will be a mini-series or a full season long thing. I'm kind of hoping for the latter even if it is just a one season deal, but the prior could work just as well. HBO tends to do a pretty good job as far as program selection goes; I've got a good feeling about this one.
At this point there isn't much to go on. We don't even have a release date. There should be more news about it to come, and I will be sure to keep my out for any breaking story in regards to production.
Stephen Spielberg joins the Under the Dome team

An article in Variety reports that famed director Stephen Speilberg has signed on to work with King on the upcoming Under the Dome HBO series.
I was already pretty excited about this, but Speilberg's involvement only boosts my confidence in the quality of this series. From what I can gather, he will act as one of the executive producers. The article states that they are in the process of looking for writers.
Apparently, Speilberg was involved in the adaptation of The Talisman, and has had the option for over 20 years. The article mentions that this was what was going to become the TNT mini-series.
Going back to Under the Dome, seeing how well Band of Brothers turned out, I think we can all rest easy knowing that this will turn out to be a good product. The source material is strong, and it looks like they're getting skilled people to develop it so it should turn out to be a great series. I don't want to raise expectations too high, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
