While I've never been to a monster truck rally, I have seen enough ads to be familiar with the giant robot monsters that crush cars in their hands or mouths.
The most iconic is probably Robosaurus, a robotic dinosaur. Not only can this "creature" crush cars and small planes, but it "breathes" fire. As if that weren't enough, the thing houses air cannons that can fire missiles.
Why the military hasn't utilized these is beyond me. There's this whole debate about whether we should be keeping troops in the middle east, pulling out, or deploying more. I'd say that you bring the troops home and replace them with a couple of giant, robotic fire breathing dinosaurs. Problem solved.
From what I can gather, Robosaurus himself has "retired", but there are other constructs around that act in a similar capacity.
You'd think that mechs would be one of those outlandish things that you could only see in movies, comics, or video games. Luckily for us, they may not be as far outside the realm of possibility as we once thought.
