One show I found myself watching as of late is a series on the Science Channel called "Build it Bigger". It's hosted by an architect named Danny Forster who travels the world and showcases some of the largest construction projects currently in the works.
Forster makes a great host as he is knowledgeable and able to inform viewers about certain aspects, while still coming off as relatable. As an architect, he knows how everything comes together, but his attempts to work construction do add some light comedy to the proceedings.
It is somewhat awe inducing as you watch people attempt to go beyond the impossible in terms of building new facilities. It is also fascinating, and most importantly for a show, entertaining.
I also find the show oddly inspiring. Seeing people work 12-16 hour days for years at a time to achieve something so, pardon the pun, monumental, really helps motivate me to go out and work that much harder to achieve a goal.
The show is currently in its ninth season, though due to the format, you can jump in at any time without having to worry about not understanding what's happening.
There have only been a handful of DVD releases (I'm not sure why they skipped season 2), but reruns are on the Science channel fairly frequently so you can get your fix in if you find yourself hooked. The new season just started a couple of weeks ago, and it airs on Friday nights, though you'll want to check your local listings.
If you are looking for a new show to watch that is entertaining and informative, I would recommend checking this one out.
