It amazes me how freaking good this show is. Not only is it the best thing in Adult Swim's line up by a veery wide margin, but it's a strong contender for one of the best things on television, period. Much like Lost, it really is a show that you have to watch from the beginning.
At this point, so many bizarre characters have been introduced and fleshed out that if you were to try and tune in for a new episode having no knowledge of the series, you will be completely lost and have no idea what's going on. There are so many in jokes and references that watching all of the episodes in order also makes each episode funnier as things that would seem random actually do have some purpose.
The fourth season is about to wrap up. It's always sad to see the show go, but it's well worth the wait. As far as I know, there's going to be a fifth season so it's not like the show is nearing the end of it's run.
This show is great. It's well written, filled to the brim with pop culture and geek references, and it has one of the more elaborate mythologies that I've seen. If you're a fan of sci-fi or comic books, you will dig this show. If you're not, I'm not sure. You might enjoy it, and it never hurts to check things out and broaden your horizons.
The first season is the weakest (as is the case with most shows) but if you stick with it through season 2, I have no doubt that you will see why it's become such a cult favorite.
