With a bunch of the movie's films being streamed on Netflix, I've had a chance to really dive into the cinematic library of "The Asylum" a film studio that releases low budget tie ins. They're responsible for Transmorphers, Alien Vs. Hunter, and Paranormal Entity.
From a technical standpoint, these movies are awful. The dialogue and story aren't all that good, the actors generally aren't all that good, and the special effects are usually pretty bad too. As such, it's no surprise to see that these movies get repeatedly panned.
However, I really get the sense that the studio is in on the joke and that they are doing it just for laughs, because that's what the end result is. You will laugh at some point during these movies, well the good ones. There are a few boring ones, but more or less, these movies fall under the "so bad it's good" category. They're great entertainment.
Even better, if you go to their website and search around a bit, you'll find that the studio accepts movie pitches. Oh yes. Even though I probably already have too much on my plate, I am seriously considering this because it does seem like a sweet gig.
I digress though, these movies are a riot and if you are the sort who can enjoy a hilariously bad movie, I highly recommend giving them a watch. They are definitely worth the 90 minute run time.
