I'm not much of a Hannity viewer. He seems like a nice enough guy, albeit one who loves to hear himself talk, but he's too far right for my taste (and I lean conservative).
There was one episode of Hannity's America that I made a point of watching because it put aside the political rhetoric and discussed something I had a genuine interest in, UFOs and conspiracy theories. As I was watching it, I couldn't help but think that Hannity should ditch the punditry and just talk about stuff like this. It would get him a wider audience and he could still write books if he felt the need to talk politics. It seemed the show was just a one time deal.
However, as I was channel surfing a few weeks back, I caught the tail end of his show and the closing segment was on demonic possession. I don't care if you're liberal or conservative, but you have to admit that a newscaster discussing demonic forces is awesome. Shortly after that, Hannity had a segment about werewolves.
It's official, Hannity is very interested in the paranormal. With this in mind, I propose this idea, hire Sean Hannity and Dan Aykroyd to co-host a Sightings-esque show. Remember Sightings? That show was awesome. For those who aren't familiar, Sightings was a news show in the vein of Dateline or 20/20, only it discussed paranormal activity like UFO sightings, ghost hauntings and other phenomena of that nature.
It doesn't have to be on Fox News, actually I think it would do better on either Fox itself or the SciFi channel as the hardcore Fox News haters will refuse to watch it simply for the fact that it's on Fox News. It would give Hannity a wider audience as his political talk is pretty much preaching to the choir at this point. A show that has nothing to do with politics will be able to be viewed and enjoyed by anyone be it liberal or conservative.
Dan Aykroyd is also a big paranormal enthusiast so putting the two together makes perfect sense. He's so passionate about it that he worked it into his marketing for Crystal head vodka
People often lament the state of television right now, and they have a point. A show like this has the potential to be interesting and informative while also providing great fodder for discussion, whether it be at the water cooler or just in general.
