Stephen King Appears on 'The Hour' Tonight
*Originally published on 11/19/09
Stephen King is in Toronto to promote his newly released, Under the Dome. He'll be sitting down with George Stromboulopoulos as well as famed director David Cronenberg. They will be speaking at the Canon theater tonight at 8 pm (you can read about it here).
The link on King's homepage says that he'll be appearing on 'Strombo's" talk show, The Hour. I'm not familiar with the format of the show so maybe it'll be that live appearance or something else entirely? It's not on in my area so I'm going to have to wait until King's site posts video footage online before I can actually comment on it myself.
Mayhap the page will have the video either streaming live on the site, or posted soon after so that I can comment on it. If it's on in your area, you should check it out.
As a special treat, here's an interview King did for Barnes and Noble's Meet the Writer series. It starts off talking about his new book, but then goes on to other topics. It's a good interview, you guys should check it out.
Watch Stephen King's Interview on 'The Hour

I mentioned yesterday that Stephen King would be appearing on a Canadian talk show called The Hour to promote Under the Dome. I mentioned that it wasn't airing in my area and, as such, wasn't able to watch it on television. Luckily, our wonderful series of tubes came through and the show's main website posted the interview online. You can watch the episode in its entirety here.
I didn't watch the whole episode. The first half has the host interviewing Justin Trudeau. I didn't bother watching that part because, well, I didn't care. To watch the King interview you'll have to skip to about the 24 minute mark.
The interview goes for about 20 minutes, but it still feels kind of short. As it did in the last interview, the parallel between the book's plot and the Simpsons movie does come up. His anecdote about the issue is fairly amusing.
It's really weird because, from the get go, we all knew that this was a book he had been working on for decades and yet, comparisons to the film continue. Heck, when I first announced the book was being released, people commented on the similarity.
Even weirder is the fact that it's only the Simpsons movie that comes up. A similar event occurred in
DC's Amazon's Attack and no one's brought that up yet. Then again, most people like to pretend that Amazon's Attack never happened and comparisons between Stephen King's work and that would probably qualify as downright insulting.
It's a good interview though, you should all check it out. I'm starting to notice how a lot of these guys ask him the same questions, but he still manages to make each one unique and I still haven't gotten tired of watching them yet, so that's a good thing.
