Daily Dose of Awesome: Wyrmwick

This is the second D&D campaign that I mentioned in my last post.  To be honest, this one didn't grab me right away.  I tuned in the night that this campaign began and decided to go elsewhere online after about half an hour.  A couple of weeks later, I gave the campaign another shot, only to have the same result.

After hearing from more than one source that Wyrmwick was awesome, I decided to give it another go.  As it turns out, the third time was the charm as once the ball got rolling, this campaign was just as entertaining and intriguing as the Dethklok campaign.

While it doesn't quite have the "big names" behind it that Dethklok does, the people playing still provide entertaining banter and it makes for a great listen.  The fact that there are fewer players means that the odds of getting the group together is much greater and the combat scenes are much quicker since there aren't so many turns per round.  The story line is also full of plot twists, compared to the more straight forward arc of Dethklok.

As intricate as the story seems to be, the players seem to inadvertently screw things up for the DM (in this case, it's Lordkat).  One prime example is when one character is the victim of an attempted assassination.  I guess LK was expecting them to investigate and maybe pursue the attacker.  Instead, the players looked out the window, saw nothing, and moved on with their day.

Later on in that session, they went to go ask an NPC about what was going on.  While Lordkat planned for this, he admitted that this wasn't supposed to happen for quite some time.

One of the major perks of the Wyrmwick campaign is that it was recorded from day one, so you can go back to the beginning and get the whole story.  It'll take you awhile, there's over 12 hours of play time at this point, but it is still the shorter of the two sessions and has proven to be quite enjoyable in its own right.

It might not grab you immediately, but wait it out.  As the sessions progress, it becomes that much more fun.  Seeing these sessions just makes me want to play the game all the more.

You can listen to the entire campaign here.
