Being pressured by your friends to grab the mic and bust out a tune? Here are some songs that will win over the crowd in little time.
10. Metallica: Seek and Destroy
The live versions are over 20 minutes long so I wouldn't go with that, but it does give you a chance to get the audience involved and get them pumped up. If nothing else, you'll be remembered as an excellent showman.
9. 10,000 Maniacs: Because the Night
This isn't a song that many may recognize, but it rocks.
8. Pat Benatar: Hit Me With Your Best Shot
What? Pat Benatar rocks.
7. Alkaline Trio: Radio
This is my favorite song by the band. It's mellow for the most part so you get a chance to get comfortable on stage in front of the mic before the song lets you go nuts during the chorus.
6. Third Eye Blind: Jumper
The inclusion of this song was one of the highlights of Yes, Man. This would also be a great addition to the Rock Band/Guitar Hero song library. It's definitely a fun one to sing.
5. Pearl Jam: Black
Eddie Vedder's vocal style just lends itself to karaoke. There are a few songs by the band that would work well, but I chose this one as it's one of my favorites, plus I figure it would be fun, if not amusing, to do the whole "do do doo do dododo" bit.
4. Journey: Don't Stop Believing
Yes, Family Guy already did it, but that doesn't change the fact that this song is great karaoke fodder.
3. Cake: Never Gonna Give You Up
The spoken word style singing will be easy for wallflowers to adapt to and given that it's a Barry White song it will give you a chance to woo audience members of the opposite sex.
2. Skynyrd: FREEBIRD!
No matter where you go, if there is a live singer or performer, someone is going to yell out a request for this song. So why not give the people what they want? It's a great song and most of it is guitar solo anyway, Figure out a way to avoid just standing there and you'll be set.
1. Oasis: Wonderwall
This is another song that's incredibly fun to sing.
Runner up spot would go to Radiohead's Paranoid Android.
