Stephen King on The Colbert Report

Stephen King Set to Appear on "The Colbert Report"

It was announced last night on Stephen King's website that the famed author will be appearing on The Colbert Report to continue promoting his best selling book, Under the Dome.

The interview was taped back in mid-November but will air this coming Monday.  The site did have a slight mix up on the date as it says it will be the sixth, although that's this coming Sunday.  It is but a minor typo, the important thing to remember is that the interview will air on Monday.  The announcement does say that it's subject to change, but I'm pretty sure that that is when the interview will air.

With the political undertones of the novel, it should make for an interesting appearance.  As other videos have shown, King tends to do pretty well when interviewed.  It will be interesting to see how he fares here given the unique nature of Colbert's interview style.

The Colbert Report airs at 11:30 Eastern on Comedy Central.

Stephen King's Appearance on 'The Colbert Report' Has Been Postponed

I mentioned that Stephen King would be appearing on The Colbert Report.  Well, if you missed it tonight, don't worry, they didn't air it.  Even though the interview was already taped, they had to postpone it for...some reason.

I know they put a disclaimer saying that it was subject to change, and on rare cases that disclaimer is necessary, but the one time where I come out and say "don't worry it's most likely airing on this date" they go and change it.  It's especially odd since the interviews (at the very least, this one) are recorded beforehand.   This is the work of that blasted Richards I tell you.

It's unknown at this time when the interview will actually air, though King's homepage says it will post the date when more information is available.

Just to be on the safe side, I'll be watching every episode between now and then, for work purposes of course.

Stephen King's Appearance on "The Colbert Report" is Online

I'd been keeping an eye on Comedy Central's website.  The page for The Colbert Report lists the upcoming guests so I checked in periodically to see when King's name popped up as I assumed he would be the interviewee for the closing segment of whatever episode he appeared in.

Such was not the case, the tricksy hobbitses snuck him into the middle of Wednesday's episode (December 16) in a new segment called Better know a Stephen.  Well played, clerks.

It was a funny segment.  Colbert poked fun at the old retirement announcement 10 years ago and included an interesting parody of Kubrick's The Shining.

Much is discussed, such as Stephen's relation to Larry King, the similarities between The Stand and Stand By Me, and gay terrorists.  Under the Dome gets brought up at the end, but it isn't really the focus of the interview.  If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest checking it out, it's pretty funny.
You can watch the whole episode on Comedy Central's website.
