5. Big rig/Optimus Prime
Michael Bay's Transformers showed us a kid who got to live the dream of owning a car that turned into a giant robot. Sure, he got Bumblebee, but I'd much rather have Optimus as my compatriot. Driving a Camaro or a Bug might be better than a big rig but Bumblebee wasn't voiced by Peter Cullen.
4. The Delorean from Back to the Future
If you're going to time travel, why not do it in style? Thanks to the flux capacitor, you need only 1.21 gigawatts of power and a lead foot to go on an adventure through time. Be careful though, make the wrong alteration and you could interfere with the courtship of your parents, erasing you from existence entirely. The car becomes even cooler after some upgrades from the future that include a fusion engine and the ability to fly.
3. Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters
I used to drive a white Corrola and once joked to my college roommate about painting the Ghostbusters logo on the two front doors. It only vexed me more when I discovered someone was selling a replica on eBay (for the low low price of 150 grand) . People with more money than they know what to do with get to have all the fun. It's not fair. At least I can live vicariously through James Rolfe who got to stand in front of the car while getting his picture taken.
2. James Bond's car
Which one? Any one, take your pick. They're all pretty awesome once you get down to it. That's why James Bond is such a beloved character; we get to watch while he drives all these great, tricked out cars that we could only dream of having.
1. The Batmobile
What else could the number one car be? Like the Bond cars, there is more than one Batmobile. Many older fans see the incarnation from the 60's tv show as the definitive model. I myself will always envision the Batmobile as the incarnation seen in Tim Burton's two films Batman and Batman Returns. You have to wonder though, what sort of mileage does it get? Also, what gas does he use? Premium? Diesel? I've never even seen Batman filling up the tank. How surreal would it be to see that while you were at the gas station?
