Daily Dose of Awesome: Linkara's good deed

Back in September of 2012, popular internet critic and video producer Linkara decided to engage in a random act of kindness .  A friend, and fellow producer, had been going through a bit of a rough patch: her car had trouble, her computer had broken down (making it nigh impossible to work and taking several months to acquire the parts needed to build a new one), on top of all of that she had recently had some medical problems.  He decided to do what he could to curb the wave of negativity by using his own influence.

He turned to his fans and asked them to each send said producer a dollar, only if they were willing to.  The money was to go towards a new laptop so that she could work again.

The gesture in and of itself was something of a crowning moment of heartwarming, but it got taken to the next level when the fanbase really did rally and the money needed to purchase a new laptop was amassed in only a matter of hours.  It really was something to behold. In fact, the floodgates were rather difficult to close as it needed to be reiterated more than twice that no more money was required and people could stop sending donations.

So props go both to him and to his fans for managing to pull off such a thing.  There's something awesome about people rallying towards a common goal, especially when said goal involves helping out another person who could use it.

You can read the specific details on the shindig here.

The internet needs to be used more frequently for things like this and less for trolling and other bullcrap.  This is cool.
