Daily Dose of Awesome: The Return of Wyrmwick

Some time ago, I talked about the awesomeness that was the "Wyrmwick" campaign, a D&D saga run by the professional streamer and podcaster known as LordKat.  The first season came to a close back in July, but "season 2" has yet to launch.

We kind of, sort of got a spin-off in a different campaign called "Haverthorne".  This was broadcast on the same stream, but was run by a different DM.  It was established to take place within Wyrmwick canon, but it ran sporadically and was recently declared inactive.  Whether that means that it's dead in the water or just on the back burner for now, I couldn't say.

In any event, we finally got another Wyrmwick session last night.  It wasn't season 2, however.  Instead, it was a prequel, making it Season 0 (or as LordKat himself refers to it -1).  I know that people hear the word "prequel" and immediately shudder, but this was a great session.

LordKat himself hasn't missed a beat when it comes to DMing, despite the lengthy hiatus and while the cast of..Wyrmwick Prime? was missed, the new characters quickly established a rapport and came into their own.

Despite taking place hundreds of years before the original campaign, there were enough nods to keep fans happy and the story itself is rather intriguing.

I love the fact that the Wyrmwick universe is expanding.  The fact that it, so far, has become a sort of umbrella continuity for three campaigns makes the world feel that much more fleshed out and elaborate.  While piling on more campaigns will probably be a bit much, the "mythos" as it were could easily continue to grow quite rapidly in these alone.

You can find this session on Lordkat's video list on Twitch.tv or you can check out the previous Wyrmwick material at Lordkat's home page (where the latest session will also eventually be posted).
