Poll: Should the Sequels be Reviewed?

*Originally published on 10/30/09

I added a whole bunch of Stephen King based movies to our Netflix queue.  In my ongoing quest to cover all things King related, this seemed like the fastest, and most cost effective way to go about it.
As I was scrolling through, clicking the add button to the various DVD's and Blu-rays that they had available, I noticed that there were an inordinate amount of sequels.  I knew of most of them, but it was still surprising seeing them all lined up like that.

I came upon in interesting dilemma.  Should I review these movies?  I mean, they're King related in the sense that they were based on King's stories...sort of, however the ties are tenuous at best.  He didn't really have anything to do with any of them.  They were just a way to cash in on the name and try to build a franchise out of stories that worked best as one shots.

The fact that a lot of the sequels are to sub-par movies doesn't really fill me with confidence either.

Still, I've never been one to turn down renting a movie because it was bad.  We rented The Spirit, The Happening, and Dragonball Evolution knowing full well that they were terrible movies.  I've mentioned before how we actively seem to seek them out in some sort of masochistic habit, so this would fall in line with that.

There's a case to be made for both sides.  On the one hand, I want to see if these movies are as bad as everybody says they are.  On the other hand, if these movies really are that bad, I would have no problem just ignoring them and letting sleeping dogs lie.

So, I'm going to leave it up to you my loyal readers.  Do you want to see reviews for all of the Children of the Corn movies?  Does Pet Sematary 2 deserve a viewing?  At this time, the only sequel in the queue is Sometimes they come back..again and that's only there because it was a 2-pack DVD.  There was a third movie however and if you will it, I will endure the final chapter as well as all the follow ups that were made.

Will you let it slide or will you be sticklers for detail? Will you be merciful or will you be like many and find amusement in the mental anguish that these movies are likely to inflict?  I have to admit I'm pretty curious to see which side you guys take.
