Caramelldansen Contest

*Originally published on 1/28/10

I have recently discovered the awesomeness that is Caramelldansen, well, relatively recently it's been a couple of months I'd say.  Yes, the song is weird as all get out, but it's strangely addictive.  More importantly, it's fun and pretty much entirely made of happy.  Honestly, listen to that song and try to be in a bad mood by the time it's over; it can't be done.

The song has especially gained notoriety with the outbreak of what are known as Caramelldansen vids.  Fans pretty much draw (by hand or computer) short animations of characters from various franchises doing the dance seen in the original music video.  There are videos of all sorts of characters from various franchises: Kim PossibleBatmanNazis300the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth (I would advise against clicking this one, it's quite horrifying).

I looked and there are none with any Stephen King characters.  As the Examiner, I feel it is my role to fix this.  I'd do it myself, but I'm a terrible artist and lack the technical know-how to pull off such a feat.  That's why I'm calling upon you dear readers.  Surely, someone on the internet can do this.  That's why I'm announcing the Stephen King Caramelldansen vid contest.

Pick anywhere from one to three Stephen King characters and put them in a video such as the ones listed above.  I would suggest going with some of the more iconic and easily recognizable characters like say Roland or Pennywise, but if you decide to go with a human character, try your best to make sure that they're recognizable as said character.

What form it comes in doesn't matter, it can be hand drawn (as you'll see, crudeness isn't really a problem), flash animation, or if you're not artistically inclined you can dabble in some cosplay and produce a live action one if you'd like.  If you have too much dignity to dress up in costume and do a silly dance, you can make your kids do it.

I'd prefer it if you used the English version, but if you want to be authentic and use the original, that's fine too.

Post the videos on Youtube and email me the links.  I will pick my favorite one and the winner will get to have his or her video posted and credited here in an actual Stephen King Examiner column.  Wow!

Entries will be accepted until March 17, 2010.

I was hesitant to do this because I wasn't sure how into it you guys would be, but I think it will be fun.  Besides, I think it's about time that Pennywise the dancing clown lived up to his name.
