Cloverfield

Pros

- Intense, harrowing sequences permeate a majority of the film.

- Cool, original, horrifying monster

- Flashbacks are cleverly incorporated



Cons


- Slow start

- Shaky cam will bother many

- Characters can be a bit on the weak side



Overall

This was a very polarizing movie.  For what it's worth, I rather liked it.  That being said, I'd suggest renting it just so that you can find out what side of the fence you fall on.
