The Hunger Games film review

Pros

- Engaging story.  Watching this made me want to read the books more than the initial buzz

- There's a good deal of tension here.  The movie does a good job of bringing you to the edge of your seat in anticipation of what's going to happen next.

- Strong performances from both the leads, but also some memorable portrayals by minor characters.

Cons

-While there's sufficient character development, some of the minor characters aren't given a whole lot of room to grow.  Many don't even get named.

- Katniss isn't quite as proactive here as her reputation makes her out to be.

Overall

I had heard mixed reviews of this, but I found it quite enjoyable.  Maybe the flaws are more apparent if you had read the book, but speaking as someone who hasn't read them, I found it very entertaining.
