The Talisman Demo Scene

*Originally published on 10/27/09

A while back, there was talk of a TNT miniseries based on The Talisman, a novel that Stephen King co-wrote with friend and fellow author Peter Straub.  Sadly, there hasn't been much in the way of news on production, but IMDB still lists it as coming out in 2010.

In the meantime, however, I found this demo tape from an aspiring film maker on youtube.  It's actually pretty well done for the most part.   I'll admit that the screaming scene had my eyes rolling, but beyond that it's not bad.  They even got Cameron Bright, the kid who played the mutant cure in X-Men 3 and the vampire cure in Ultraviolet to play as Jack.

I would suggest making a dollar baby, but I think those need to stay within a certain time limit, like 20 minutes or something like that, and there's no way you could fit the entirety of The Talisman into that,  even if you played it at high speed.  Sure, all the voices would sound funny, like Alvin and the Chipmunks, but even then you would have to cut quite a bit.
